Insurance leaders celebrate philanthropy at Rose Bowl Stadium
(Pasadena, CA – May 9, 2024) – On Thursday, May 9, more than 140 teams came together to “throw down” some friendly competition at the 9th annual IMA Foundation Throw Down, a fundraising cornhole tournament at Rose Bowl Stadium that raises substantial funds annually for California nonprofits. In 2024, the foundation secured sponsorship commitments surpassing $200,000, setting a new benchmark for the event.
Friends, colleagues, business partners and associates participated in the lively event, featuring a competitive cornhole tournament, food, drinks, and live music. This year is the first to be hosted by the IMA Foundation after a successful partnership between 鶹ý and Bolton & Company.
Steve Brockmeyer, West Region President of 鶹ý, expressed enthusiasm for this year’s event, which surpassed the $200,000 raised last year to support vital community initiatives. “This event embodies our commitment to California, supporting essential youth programs in education, mental health, arts and culture, food insecurity, and homelessness,” says Brockmeyer.
Attendees also included the IMA Foundation’s grant program recipients, some of which included Penny Lane Centers, Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice, Aspires West Pasadena, and Our House Grief Support Center. Recipients are selected bi-annually and exemplify the IMA Foundation’s commitment to advancing Pasadena youth and making a difference in the communities it serves.
Throw Down is one of ten lighthearted fundraising events organized by the IMA Foundation each year, representing its most significant annual philanthropic effort. Proceeds from the event, including participation fees and sponsorship opportunities, directly benefit area nonprofits. IMA/Bolton associates dedicate hundreds of hours each year to make the employee-driven event a success.
To date, Throw Down has raised over $1.3M for dozens of California nonprofits.
“The nonprofits in our community are local heroes,” said Steve Brockmeyer. “They do incredible work throughout the year and help change lives every day. The event is our way of celebrating their success and investing in their efforts so that they can continue to thrive.”
